Our mission is to exalt the Lord by serving and sharing Christ through meeting the needs of others.
What is Foster Care?
Foster Care
What Is It?
Foster care is planned, temporary, or extended substitute family care. Open Arms feels that those children placed into its care will be best served by Christian parents. While the agency acknowledges that there are a variety of religious societies that have been spawned by seeking hearts, Open Arms has maintained the responsibility to be selective in its screening process while recruiting potential foster parents. These parents must have demonstrated an understanding of the basic tenets of Christianity and must demonstrate active compliance with those tenants.
Foster Care provides:
- The needed environment to help a youth become personally and socially responsible.
- Promotes permanency, whether it be to reunite the child with biological parents or to provide a family living situation pending independent living or other living circumstances.
Purpose and objectives are:
- To provide an environment and experiences that allow for normal maturation.
- Protect from further injury.
- Assist in resolving issues that might block the development of a healthy personality.
