Who Needs Foster Care?

The Open Arms Comprehensive Foster Care program provides homes for three levels of foster care for youth:

Therapeutic:

• A therapeutic foster child may have severe emotional handicaps.
• They may have chronic or ongoing medical conditions.
• Some may require intensive services.
• Many come from a residential facility or detention center.

Special Needs:

• Foster care children in special needs require less intensive services.
• Many have mild to moderate problems such as status offense, past substance abuse, poor social skills, or oppositional behaviors.
• May be a pregnant teen or a teen mother who requires parental supervision.

Traditional:

- A child who needs a living environment that is nurturing and promotes the well-being of the child.
